Jobs - where are they?
August 17, 2009 1:43 am Bugs, Growing as a teamHi all,
thanks to Walter Landesman I was able to detect a wrong behavior of the hierarchy by which emails / job offers are send out. The bug results in the fact that some translators were automatically skipped. I informed the developers right away and hope that the fix will be done still today.
It is my prior aim to have LingoZ based on a fair system. Everything that is in our ability to do so, will be done. Please note that are elements in the process that are not controlled by us, mainly the time and speed you receive the job offers. This mainly depends on your email server you are using.
Please, despite my truly late answers in many cases, do not stop to inform me about problems, either in the system or to adress me with any personal questions you might have.
With best regards,
Ursula

How about posting available jobs in this channel (RSS)? All interested parties would see and reply to them promptly.

Carlos - thanks for this input. We are currently checking additional ways to inform the translators, e.g. per SMS. Not sure if the RSS is a suitable way, as this might need a lot of development from our side, but I will keep it in mind. Also the translator lounge is only a temporary place of ours and let’s not forget this is a completely open space with free acces not protected by any password.
At the end I guess we will have our information platform on LingoZ.com. When we reach this point your idea could become feasible.
Thanks - Ursula

I’ve got a question (please forgive me if you find it inappropriate):
I haven’t got any job since I was accepted as a LingoZ translator. Does the system issue some kind of e-mail notification when there’s a job available or I’m supposed to keep login in to check it out?
Thanks!

Hi Marcelo,
you should get the job offers send by emails, so no need to keep logging in for checking. I will have a look at your personal case later on and will let you know my finding by a personal email.
Regards,
Ursula

Hi Ursula, so far, I haven’t received any jobs that I could take, only canceled/expired ones. Thanks

Hi Ursula,
I haven’t received any job offers so far. Let’s see if the fix works now, and I was one of those ’skipped’ translators.
Kind regards.

Hi Ursula
I have the same question as Marcelo:
“I haven’t got any job since I was accepted as a LingoZ translator. Does the system issue some kind of e-mail notification when there’s a job available or I’m supposed to keep login in to check it out?”

Hi Ursula,
I received a job notification which I accepted, completed and submitted in due time. Nevertheless, I received a notice from Lingoz requesting the translation because time had expired. So, I submitted it again. Please can you check this inconvenience? Thanks

Dear Ursula,
Firstly, thank you for adding my profile to your translator database. I have just received my first job notification and, after logging in in and checking the text for translation I clicked “Accept this project” then started the translation in a separate word file on my computer. I thought I was the first translator to accept it but the light blue panel at the right top corner showed all along Open Jobs: 0, Jobs in Work: 0, Completed: 0 - does this mean that I did not, in fact, get the job myself? Then, when trying to submit the translation, the job status was “expired” and therefore inaccessible. I do not understand what went wrong. The only available window for pasting text was in fact for customer use and I had a pop-up window notifying that I am about to submit a new project for translation, which I then cancelled. Could you kindly explain what went wrong?
Many thanks,
Camelia

I still have not received a single job in the DE-EN pair. I received one notification early in the process, but by the time I clicked on it, it was “cancelled.” Since then, not a word. Is there are a technical problem, or are there simply no jobs?

Ursula:
