How to subscribe to RSS?
In many of my emails I suggested to colleagues to subscribe to the RSS feed of Translator-Lounge. I believe it is a good way to stay updated. From some reactions of colleagues I understood that they are having problems to do so or that it is simple the first time for them to try.
So here is a short guide to the RSS. I will describe three options which I myself found the most comfortable ones. And in case you are, just like me, on the verge of getting your first reading glasses - click on the images to see them enlarged!
I.) Of course everything starts by clicking on the RSS button on the right upper corner of this blog
II.) The landing page will offer you several options you can choose in the drop down menu. Confirm your selection by clicking “Subscribe Now”.
- Microsoft Office Outlook:
Will add a folder “Translator Lounge” in your RSS folder in Outlook. New posts automatically will enter this folder. - Live Bookmarks:
Will add a “Translator Lounge” folder to your bookmarks. New post automatically will enter this folder - Google:
In case Google is your preferred search engine and you have an account on Google. Here you have two option, but I prefer the “Add to Google homepage”: This will change Google’s classic look to iGoogle, your customized look. RSS feeds are part of them. (Note you may switch between “Classic Home” and “iGoogle” at any given time.)
Honestly I didn’t check out the other possibilities on the RSS feed, but I believe they are just as easy to implemented as the ones above. Only a question of some few clicks.
Hope this was helpful,
Ursula

Hi Ursula,
I’d be happy to volunteer some help with some short proofreading in English of the text on the website. Please feel free to contact me directly for this purpose, and I will work it in between my paying translation/editing assignments.
Thanks for all your efforts.
Have a nice day,
Richard

Hello there, I feel a bit silly but I can’t subscribe to the RSS feed. When I click on the botton I get an html page where there are no menu I can choose nor any place where I can click on.
I can ot fix this today and in a couple of week because I will be out due to a course I am attending, but when I come back I hope to fix it.
Any idea how to solve it?

Hi all!
Its strange! It worked for me…
Well, let me see if I can help (provided someone dont solved yet):
If you use Google Reader
Just click on “Add a Subscription” (up, left) and put this link:
http://www.translator-lounge.com/feed/
Another option is go to:
http://www.feedreader.com/
and download FeedReader (free and reliable, I use it), a specific program to this task. After you install it, go to File -> New -> Feed
just put this link in the text box will appear:
http://www.translator-lounge.com/feed/
And [enter], the program will load the blog, and will automatically update new posts, its configurable. This program is very friendly and easy to use.
For RSS there are many other option over the internet, the most common Web based RSS aggregator is as follow:
Google Reader
Google News
My Yahoo!
Bloglines
For a lot of more options, visit this wikipedia link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(file_format)
go to the bottom of the page and you will find tons of options for RSS reader.
Will work, certainly.

Hi, I have set it up using Thunderbird.
Here is the set up for anyone who wish to set it up in Thunderbird.
* My Thunderbird is in Japanese so the words used here is not exactly the same with yours but I am sure you can understand them.
1. In Thunderbird, click the menu File–New–Account.
2. Choose “News and Blog(Feed)”.
3. Type the name you prefer.
4. Click the button “Finish”.
You can see the newly created account in the left side window where all accounts are listed.
5. Right click the newly created account.
6. Click “Subscribe” in the pop up menu.
7. Click “Add” button.
8. Paste “http://www.translator-lounge.com/feed/” into “Feed’s URL” and click the button “OK”.
Messages will be downloaded automatically.
9. Click “X” to close the window.
Good luck!
