Dear team,

last week we concentrated on improvements of the user experience of our customers. This process will find its full implementation with a new interface that should be ready within the next couple of days. We are positive that these changes will make it easier for the customer to understand how to use LingoZ Translations and by that we are looking forward to an increasing number of job offers for you.

As a result of last week’s focus I had to slow down in my communication with the translators team. Please accept my apology for all the unanswered emails and comments on the blog. I will try to catch up with all open issues ASAP.

Step by Step: Changing Your Password

It is advisable to change the initial password we provided with a password of your choice.

General: In order to create a secure password:
* At least 5 characters long
* Mix capital and lowercase letters
* Include numbers
* No longer than 20 characters

To change your password on LingoZ:

  1. Log in with your old password
  2. Go to “My Profile”
  3. Enter the new password in both fields a) New Password and b) Repeat Password
  4. Click on “Update Profile”

One word about small translation jobs

We had it twice recently, once a 3 word job and once a 4 word job had to be canceled as no translator was ready to accept the job!

I can understand that it is not appealing to do such a short job.
Money wise it simply doesn’t pay off. But here are two reasons why you should consider doing so.

  1. LingoZ Translations is new on the market. We expect to have new customers that want to try out our service with small jobs first. We have to serve them, to convince them by our quality and hopefully gain a constant customer.

  2. We do not give penalties to translators declining a job. But we do promote translators that show initiative and dedication. So if you want to invest into your place on the team, please pick up also small jobs.

LingoZ is of NO CHARGE to translators

Hi all,

again it happened. We thought things are perfectly clear and they aren’t. As I see from the comments to my previous posts, we have members on the team, that suspected to have to pay for getting job offers through the LingoZ platform.

As we say in the FAQ for Translators:
Becoming a member of our translation team is risk free and free of charge.

  1. There is absolutely no member fee or anything.
  2. You may or may not accept a job for translation

What added to the confusion for our colleagues is obviously the word credit line in your personal field after log-in.

To end this confusion. This line is only relevant for our costumers.

I hope my programmers will answer my call soon the remove this entry on “personal fields” of translators.

Where are my jobs?

Hi all,

the question “Where are my jobs?” points into two directions:

  1. Where in the system I do pick up my translation jobs after I was informed by email about a new job offer.
    This question I will answer at a later opportunity.
  2. Where are my jobs? I still haven’t got a job offer…. Am I doing something wrong? How do I know that I am really part of the team?
    This question seems more urgent to me, so I want to address it right away.

Please remember we only completed the first week of LingoZ Translations. There aren’t enough jobs right now. We used week 1 to have the system functional from the translators’ side. This week, as we see increased traffic to site, we will concentrate on the user experience of the customers.

So it is:
No - you are not doing anything wrong.
Yes - you are part of the team.

The pressure on. From both sides. We want our team to experience the benefit they have by working for LingoZ as soon as possible. And we have to show results to your management as well.

As hard as we try, there will be no miracles. As said you are the pioneers of LingoZ translations. It needs patience during the weeks to come.

It’s my weekend!

Dear friends,

As located in Israel, my weekend starts Friday and I am back in the office on Sunday. So here is my plan for day one of my weekend:

  1. Cleaning the flat, including floors
  2. Doing the laundry
  3. Picking up my latest lab test results
  4. Making sure my three sons will not starve
  5. Taking the boys a) to the Book Fair and b) to the grandparents

Somewhere in between, I don’t know how, but I see the urgent need for clarifications in your emails, I will try to address the following issues on the blog:

  1. How to pick up jobs on site….
  2. Where are my jobs? I still haven’t got a job offer….
  3. How PayPal works…
  4. and many minor things…
    1. You are in my heart and on my agenda.

Suggestion: Second Native Language on Profile Page

Martin from Germany sent me following suggestion: “I believe it might be a good thing to allow for more than one native language in translators’ profiles.”

Martin is right and some of you might remember that I collected this information in your application forms. Well, the programmer didn’t add this field, and now it will take a while to get it back.

It is on our To-Do-List, but not as a urgent task.

Options in Language Skills (Translator Skills Page)

User/Translator Profile 2 Comments

This is one of the most frequently asked question. I get emails by colleagues who are not able to select all of their language pairs. Why is that?

Right now, I hope for a very short period only, we only offer translations in the following language combinations to our customers:
• English to German
• English to French
• English to Italian
• English to Portuguese
• English to Spanish
• German to English
• French to English
• Italian to English
• Portuguese to English
• Spanish to English

That’s why you cannot update your additional language pairs with a combination like e.g. Spanish to German.

I hope we will be able to widen our offering soon, so your full potential can get through. We will have a very close eye on what additional languages our customers demand and, if our translator team is strong enough for this particular language pair, we will certainly add it.
